THE STORY OF A HORSE GIRL AND A CAMERA
For years I have loved photography and design- all the way back to the days of drawing Mickey Mouse and stalking the barn aisles with my tiny wind-up camera. Having grown up on a horse farm, I have almost 3 decades of horse experience and continue to compete today in the dressage and eventing disciplines.
As a photographer, my main goal is to capture the emotion of our daily interactions- be that with horses, for an engagement shoot, or otherwise. For equestrian photography, I put an emphasis on creating a safe and comfortable environment that allows my subjects to relax and enjoy the process of having their portrait taken. The result is an honest impression of your relationship that you can cherish for a lifetime.
In 2010 I graduated from NC State’s College of Design with a Bachelor in Art and Design and a concentration in photography. I started Britt Gillis Design in 2007, and since then have continued to expand my photography horizons and learn more about my craft. Whereas initially BGD was focused on all things graphic, in 2016 I decided to focus on my true love of photography, though I am still available for web and identity design as requested.
In the last 15 years of BGD, I have photographed CEO’s, expectant mothers, blushing brides, tornado toddlers, and of course, every shape and size of equine you could ever imagine. I’m excited every day I get behind my lens, and I hope you’re excited about the keepsake images I produce for you.
